Sedona Port - Crazy

about

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sedona Port is a completely new synth/pop/rock project. The project was started in the spring of 2021 and the sound can be described as a modern mix of Depeche Mode, U2, Hurts and Coldplay. A modern production with synths, guitars and a male singer.

Sedona Port only consists of the songwriter and producer Patrik Pistol from Stockholm. He writes and produces the songs himself and then brings in different singers depending on what suits the song best.

However, so far he has only worked with the singer Jamie Wiltshire from Cambridge in this project due to the fact that it has been such a good result and the collaboration has worked perfectly.

They found each other on a music forum on the Internet where they understood that a collaboration would work well. They sent the audio files to each other via the Internet. Patrik sends over three files for each song to Jamie. Two versions of the song (Instrumental and with demo song) and a text file with the lyrics. Then Jamie sings the song in his studio in Cambridge and sends over the song recordings to Patrik in Stockholm. The plan was for Jamie to come to Stockholm and record the songs directly in Patrik's studio. But the pandemic came in the way and they continued to collaborate over the Internet.

The brandname Sedona Port
There is actually a little story behind the choice of the project name "Sedona Port". Long ago, Patrik drove around the United States one summer. When he was in the small town of Sedona (which by the way is probably among the most beautiful places in the world) in Arizona, Patrik took a helicopter ride over the magnificent mountains in the area. Then the helicopter pilot started talking about "The Sedona Port" which was apparently a portal that aliens used to visit the earth. Unfortunately, Patrik never saw this portal. But he thought "Sedona Port" sounded cool. 😉

Patrik Pistol
Patrik Pistol (Yes! It is his real name (Old Swedish knight name from the 17th century)) is a Swedish designer, producer and songwriter based in Stockholm. He writes and produces music for different artists, TV-shows, computer games, movies and commercials. He's been producing and writing for artists like Dr. Alban, The Central Bank, CPU Suckers, HVH74 and Suezia, and Alexander Bard for different projects (for example Alcazar, Drömhus and Acke).

It all started in the boys' room in Tyresö (Stockholm) with an Atari ST and a sampler in the early 90's. Thanks to those machines, it became possible to create music without having access to a million dollar studio. Patrik started making music and playing with various synth bands that, among other things, had gigs at the now cult Kolingsborg in Stockholm. Then it was more house and pop that resulted in Patrik ending up in Dr Alban's studio (Dr Records) on Stureplan where he did a lot of Eurodisco projects. Time passed, eurodisco died out and Patrik cut his hair and got a job at an advertising agency where he worked as an art director and music / sound producer. But now it's finally time to "go back to the roots" with the Sedona Port project, so to speak.

Jamie Wiltshire
Jamie works as a professional singer in Cambridge and is a member of the two bands Standing like Statues and Dear Monday. Jamie is not really that at home in the synth pop genre as he is more of a rock / live artist. Jamie still thinks that the Sedona Port project suits him perfectly as he likes the songs and the production.

The future
Sedona Port is Patrik's dream project where he has the time and opportunity to really polish on a snare drum for days, sit through the nights finding the perfect chord sequence and melodies. The goal is for me to be 100% completely satisfied with each song. The plan is to release a single every six weeks for the next two years when the material already is finished and recorded. The next single will be a cover of the song "Such A Shame" with Talk Talk. But after that, it is only self-written material.

About the song Run With Me:
Patrik wrote and produced "Run With Me" in the beginning of 2021. He felt stuck in the same habits, the same job, the same of everything and panicked and just wanted to run away and start something new. To dare to take the step and let go of your safe but sad everyday life to achieve what you dream of. It sounds like a cliché but that was actually the way it was.

The sound in the song is clearly inspired by Depeche Mode's album “Violator” and also U2's album “The Joshua Tree.” We even dare say that it's a bit of a mix. Especially with Jamie's (Jamie Wiltshire) voice as actually is scary like Bonos in U2.

About the song Shuch A Shame:
We could not resist the temptation to do a modern cover of Talk Talk's fantastic song, Such a Shame from 1984. It is such a beautiful song that unfortunately has not received the attention it deserves. Our version still has the wonderful melodies and harmonies that the original has, but we have redone it with a more modern sound. We really hope you like it.
